After a relatively normal spring and summer, with excellent growing conditions and no unwelcome surprises, the end to the year has turned all that on it’s head. As this is written, the weather station sitting to my right displays another day with over half an inch of rain. When will it stop?

Ben Challum Beef Available in Edinburgh

Available seasonally and in limited quantities, we are very excited to be supplying beef from our own grass fed suckler cow herd directly to two city centre pubs in Edinburgh operated by our sister company D M Stewart Ltd.

The Guildford Arms in West Register Street and The Abbotsford Bar in Rose Street have been using a variety of cuts for the last year as Specials alongside their usual menus.

Weather Station 1st Year

A year ago – May 6th 2005 – we installed a Davis Vantage Pro 2 Plus weather station at Crieffvechter, on the western extent of the farm, one mile east of Crieff. Its a well worn cliche that the British like nothing more than to talk about the weather; perhaps even more apposite is the ability of those in the farming industry to be slightly less than satisfied with how it is affecting them… What better opportunity than to install the equipment to back up our unhappiness with hard data!
